INTERACTIVE FICTION GAMING
FOR THE CLASSROOM

Interactive Fiction(IF) games are text-based adventure games that involve reading a digital fiction novel that constantly evolves as choices are made to solving puzzles and achieve the goal.

In classrooms, IF has proven to be a great motivational reading improvement tool, and engages learners in multiple reading skills simultaneously. The learning opportunities extend far beyond the capabilities of a traditional printed text.

With the use of emulators, players can still enjoy classic IF games originally designed for early computer models. In addition, new applications have been developed to allow IF players to create their own games, thus integrating technology with reading and writing improvement.

Learn more about Interactive Fiction and how it can benefit your students' reading and writing skills. After the initial shock of playing a game without images, my students were begging me to extend the lesson so they may finish the games. How could I turn that down?? They were LOVING to read! I encourage you to try it out in your classroom as well!
